Crash the Wedding Crashers Trailer
In what seems to be the coolest bit of technology we've seen all
year, you can digitally"crash" the trailer. You gotta check this
out!
June 27, 2005
IMDB Review Calls Wedding Crashers "inappropriate,
hilarious and glorious"
"Saw a advance screening of this on Friday night. Hilarious
doesn't do the film justice. You know how in most films you remember the funniest
parts and bring them up as you leave the theater? This one, it's hard to remember
the best parts because there's so many of them.
Unlike his previous films, where Vince Vaughn is usually
reduced to the role of 'scene stealer', here we get a full dose of Babaganush,
and he's in his finest form since 'Swingers'. If you liked
him in his Swingers/Made persona, you'll love him here. Some of the riffs
that he has literally will have you holding your sides with laughter.
Owen Wilson is Owen Wilson. You either like him or you don't.
He's more of the straight man in this film, although he does have some pretty
good lines too, and he has great chemistry with Vaughn, especially
in the scenes where they're fighting. He's the ying to Vaughn's yang.
The movie certainly 'earns' it's R rating. There's a healthy
dose of nudity, sex related hijinks, and f-bombs. But it's not 'gross out'
humor a la American Pie. It pushes boundaries, but not just in a 'shock value'
way. It's genuinely funny.
I saw the movie with a bunch of critics, who usually the jaded type, were
laughing their asses of as well. Guys will love this movie and will be quoting
it for the rest of the year. Girls will love it too though, and there is a
romantic subplot (cheesy at times, but forgivable given how funny the movie
is), with Rachael McAdams doing a great job as Owen Wilson's love interest.
Isla Fischer plays the role of 'scene stealer' in this one, serving as Vince
Vaughn's psycho love interest. And Chris Walken is Chris Walken.
So overall..inappropriate, hilarious and glorious. Better
than Oldschool. Way better than Anchorman. Best comedy of the year,
maybe the last couple of years." (IMDB)
Podcast #16: Juliette Lewis Musical Tribute
We salute Juliette Lewis, Frat Pack actress and rock singer! We play

our Made review. Check out today's Frat Pack Podcast.
Eight Wedding Crashers Clips and new Photo Galleries
Stop what you're doing right now and head on over to Yahoo for eight
incredible clips from the movie. The Bicycle clip is hilarious and we
have a bit of Jane Seymour trying to seduce Owen! Notice how Owen pronounces
"inappropriate" exactly the same way Luke did in Old School.
Also of note is a great
new photo gallery with tons of photos from the movie.
Also, we'd be remiss if we didn't point you to the Babes

Premiere Info
We got a great tip from Marie-Lu: "I was wondering if you have seen my
post there about the info on The Wedding Crashers UK premiere. I heard
that it will be held on 4th July at Odeon Leicester Square.
I cannot find many sites on the internet confirming it, but I have found out
that the company called Entertainment Film Distributors is the distributor
of the premiere and I phoned them and they did confirm the date and venue,
so I don't think it is false info. I also confirmed Owen and Vince
will be there. If you would like to ask the distributor any questions,
their phone number is +44 20 7930 7744. Also their website comes up if you
Google their company name."

Ben Stiller Crafting Movie with Frat Pack Connections
The Los Angeles Times & Coming Soon report that Ben Stiller has commissioned
a new script titled The Mirror, a cannily-written comedy about Stiller, who
awakens one day to find his mirror image passing himself off as the real star.
The Scott Smith script features Stiller's real-life wife (Christine Taylor) and family, pal Owen Wilson, agent Nick Stevens and Angelina Jolie as an irresistible sex goddess. The film is about an actor who can't handle the notion that everyone, even his own parents, prefer his crafty mirror image to himself.
"My initial inspiration came from a friend who was trying to become more authentic by stripping away her social persona, only to discover that the world wanted the more fake version of herself," said Smith" (Dark Horizons)
Elf Sequel In Works;
Ferrell Not Guaranteed Yet
"New Line has signed "Old School" and "Starsky
& Hutch" writer Scot Armstrong to start work on "Elf
2." Armstrong was the last scribe to do an uncredited rewrite on the
original "Elf," which grossed $173 million in its 2003 release.
Mini-major is believed to have an understanding with Will Ferrell that gives
it confidence to continue with the project, though there's no deal with the
thesp yet and the pic doesn't have a greenlight..." (Dark
Horizons)

"Luke Wilson Dance Party" Lyrics
Here are the lyrics to the "Luke Wilson Dance Party" that we featured
on our most recent podcast.
Your brother is more famous but he's never danced like you
You found out Inez loves you and your body is set in motion
Fueled by the news you bust more moves than an entire breakdance crew
You don't have to be the boring guy in all the movies
Luke Wilson dance party... robbing bookstores, on the lam... hanging out in
motels all day...

Ben Stiller to star
in The Persuaders
Ben Stiller and Steve Coogan will star in The Persuaders,
a feature remake of 1971 British TV series. Stiller will play the role originated
by Tony Curtis, and Coogan will take on the Roger Moore role.
The series revolved around the adventures of two rich playboys. Curtis was the street-smart millionaire from the Bronx, Moore the upper cruster. They mingled in exotic locales, romancing women and righting wrongs along the way.
Coogan and Stiller had developed a mutual desire to work together, and it was Coogan, who just wrapped the Sofia Coppola-directed Marie Antoinette, who suggested The Persuaders. (Empire Movies)
Vince Vaughn Hanging
out in Chicago
"Since Vince Vaughn is in town prepping for this summer's filming
of his ''The Break Up'' with Jennifer Aniston, we'll have lots of Vaughn viewings
in the next couple of months -- like the recent one at Lion Head Pub in Lincoln
Park." (Chicago
Sun-Times, also another
sighting)
Vaughn Wins Raves in
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Be sure to check your disbelief and firearms at the door. "Mr.
& Mrs. Smith" is a violent romp with no socially redeeming value
-- but it's fun and sexy as hell. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" is a modern-day
fairy tale complete with a savagery and glamour that masks slightly deeper
-- but not profound -- emotions. Vince Vaughn continues his deadpan
sarcastic shtick. (Zap2It.com)
So-So
Night for Frat Pack at MTV Movie Awards
Big congratulations to Ben Stiller for winning the Best Villian award
for Dodgeball. Ben accepted the award by rasing an egg to demonstrate
the evils of high cholesterol. "Take a look at this little fella. He's
killed more people than all the Hollywood bad guys combined," Stiller
said. "Crush cholesterol now!"
We also salute Ben's Fockers co-star Dustin Hoffman for winning Best Comedic Performance. As we have previously noted, we did like his performance but that said Will Ferrell really should have won in that category.
In
fact, Anchorman was shut out completely, including the award for
Best Fight. What? We're flabbergasted!
On a positive note, Vince and Owen appeared in a spoof of the upcoming Wedding Crashers. The MTV Movie Awards air on Thursday, June 9. More details at Vince-Vaughn.com.

Kicking & Screaming
Called Oddly Poignant
There's an incredible
essay/review about Kicking & Screaming:
"I got all emotional watching Will Ferrell's new movie, "Kicking & Screaming." Yet there I was, in the dark, getting all ... moved. Feeling the pain of Ferrell's character, soccer dad Phil Weston. Understanding the vibe. For some, it was silly. For me, it was oddly poignant. Still, there's a truth to "Kicking & Screaming" that got me, much as I was sure it wouldn't; much as I didn't want to let it." (Wisconsin State Journal)

Wedding Crashers is #3 in Rolling Stone Summer
Movie Preview
From the June 2 issue:
Cloned from every comedy about weddings -- they pop up as frequently as light-saber duesl in Star Wars -- the howlingly comic Crashers plays like something freshly minted. Expect a big, fat hit. Vince Vaughn, whose deadpan line delivery is priceless, makes a dream team with Owen Wilson as divorce mediators who crash weddings to score quickie sex from women at their most vulnerable. That Christopher Walken is along as a politician with marriage-able daughters (Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher) is icing on the potty-mouthed, boob-baring cake. There's something about merriment this hot and hilarious. As the summer's one indisputable laugh riot, WC can take on the epics.
Don't feel bad by the #3 finish, by the way. #1 and #2 are from a couple guys named Lucas and Spielberg. Perhaps you've heard of them? Learn more about Wedding Crashers.

Frat Pack Summer Movie Buzz Continues
From this MSNBC
article:
Wedding Crashers: "Buzz: This looks to be the funniest comedy of the summer. Vaughn, basically using his “Swingers” persona and Wilson (playing himself, as usual) are a great combination and it’s easy to believe that many women would fall for their act (personally, I’d have to go with Wilson). This is another product of the so-called Frat Pack (which also includes Ferrell and Ben Stiller)."
Untitled Mike Judge Project (starring Luke Wilson): "Buzz: Mike Judge is probably best known as the creator of “Beavis and Butthead.” This is the first film he’s directed since 1999’s cult favorite “Office Space.” The humor here may be broad, but Judge has one of the quicker wits around, so it should be smart and highly quotable. Dodgeball's Stephen Root, who turned in one of the classic performances as the stapler-loving Milton in “Office Space,” reunites with Judge for this one. Expect some real laughs."
MSNBC also presents Comic smackdown: Sandler vs. Ferrell.
Great Quote from Orange County native Will Ferrell on his favorite team: "The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Orange County, California of the Western Region of the United States of North America." (ESPN Radio)

Only good for second place but $21 million isn't too shabby. We gave the movie

BEST MOVIE
Kill Bill Vol. 2 (Miramax Films)
Napoleon Dynamite (Fox Searchlight)
Spider-Man 2 (Sony Pictures)
Ray (Universal Pictures)
The Incredibles (Walt Disney Pictures)
Where's Anchorman or Dodgeball? This category does traditionally cater to "better reviewed" movies as demonstrated by these nominees, though.BEST COMEDIC PERFORMANCE
Antonio Banderas -- Shrek 2 (DreamWorks SKG)
Dustin Hoffman -- Meet the Fockers (Universal Pictures)
Will Ferrell -- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (DreamWorks SKG)
Ben Stiller -- Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (20th Century Fox)
Will Smith -- Hitch (Sony Pictures)
Nice to see Hoffman's nom here, as it is a performance that grows upon repeated viewings. That said, he's clearly an also-ran here. So, who to choose, Stiller or Ferrell? We do think Ben's portrayal of White Goodman was inspired genius and he was a lot funnier. But Ferrell was outstanding as well and had to carry a lot more of the movie. Call this a toss-up.BEST ON-SCREEN TEAM
Lindsay Lohan/Rachel McAdams/Lacey Chabert/Amanda Seyfried -- Mean Girls (Paramount Pictures)
Craig T. Nelson/Holly Hunter/Spencer Fox/Sarah Vowell -- The Incredibles (Walt Disney Pictures)
Will Ferrell/Paul Rudd/David Koechner/Steve Carell -- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (DreamWorks SKG)
Vince Vaughn/Christine Taylor/Justin Long/Alan Tudyk/Stephen Root/Joel David Moore/Chris Williams -- Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (20th Century Fox)
John Cho/Kal Penn -- Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (New Line Cinema)
Nice to see that the entire "Average Joe's" team was nominated from Dodgeball. Nod should probably go to the Channel 4 News Team, though where is Christina Applegate?BEST VILLAIN
Tom Cruise -- Collateral (DreamWorks SKG)
Ben Stiller -- Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (20th Century Fox)
Rachel McAdams -- Mean Girls (Paramount Pictures)
Jim Carrey -- Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (Paramount Pictures)
Alfred Molina -- Spider-Man 2 (Sony Pictures)
You all know who we think should and deserves to win this category.BREAKTHROUGH FEMALE
Rachel McAdams -- Mean Girls (Paramount Pictures)
Ashanti -- Coach Carter (Paramount Pictures)
Elisha Cuthbert -- The Girl Next Door (20th Century Fox)
Bryce Dallas Howard -- The Village (Touchstone Pictures)
Emmy Rossum -- The Day After Tomorrow (20th Century Fox)
We think the nod should go to Old School-alumn Cuthbert.BEST FIGHT
The Battle of the News Teams -- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (DreamWorks SKG)
Daryl Hannah vs. Uma Thurman -- Kill Bill Vol. 2 (Miramax Films)
Brad Pitt vs. Eric Bana -- Troy (Warner Bros. Pictures)
Ziyi Zhang vs. The Emperor's Guards -- House of Flying Daggers (Sony Pictures Classics)
If Anchorman doesn't win this category then I say we grab some brass knuckles and tridents and storm the gates of MTV! Really pleased to see this nomination.BEST MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
Jennifer Garner & Mark Ruffalo -- 13 Going On 30 (Sony Pictures) -- "Thriller Dance"
Will Ferrell/Paul Rudd/David Koechner/Steve Carell -- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (DreamWorks SKG) -- "Afternoon Delight"
John Cho & Kal Penn -- Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (New Line Cinema) -- "Hold On"
Jon Heder -- Napoleon Dynamite (Fox Searchlight) -- "Election Dance"
They deserve this for the "Delight" video more than the performance in the film. Heder is probably a lock here, though.

We're starting to really look forward to this movie (despite a tame PG rating). I guess this is a "frat pack" type of movie we can bring our kids to. And this movie looks like it is a must for soccer fans as well as those who loved the human vs. ball antics of Dodgeball.
Kicking & Screaming Books - Perfect for Kids
Looks like Will Ferrell's new movie is more Elf than Old

Wedding Crashers Website Updated with New Trailer
The official
website has been updated with the same look as seen on the recent movie
poster and the herky-jerky trailer we saw last week on MTV.com is now available
in large and glorious QuickTime and Windows Media.
Our Wedding Crashers page has links to the Teaser Trailer, photos, and more.
New "Slacker Pack" Article A Hatchet Job
There's a new article about our favorite group of actors from The
Observer in the U.K. Unfortunately, the article is problematic in tone
(calling the group the Slacker Pack not the Frat Pack, relegating Luke Wilson
to second tier member) and plain inaccurate (Mos Def a member of the group?).
The article seems to rip off major portions of the New York Times
article from a couple weeks ago. (Guardian
Unlimited / The Observer)
Meet the Fockers
Falls from Top 20 (Corrected)
For the first time since it opened (before Christmas, folks), Meet
the Fockers has fallen out the Top
20 movies at the box office. Remember that the movie is available on DVD
on April 19.
Correction: Now that the offical, final returns
are in, Fockers barely hung in there for #20. It has grossed $278
million in the North America and about half a billion worldwide!

Wilson's Wendell Baker Story Wins Best Film Award at Vail Film Festival
This film seems to be gathering momentum on the film festival circuit. Now,

Ben Stiller Will Retire For A Year
Ben Stiller has revealed he will be taking a year off after the birth of his
child.
The Hollywood funnyman, who is expecting his second child with actress wife
Christine Taylor, will quit acting for at least a year to spend time with
his wife, his two-year-old daughter, Ella, and the new baby, who is due this
summer.
A friend of the star said Ben, who made six movies last year, wants to put family before his busy work schedule.
He said: "Ben loves being a father and he feels he's missing out on a lot by working so much.
"He's saying that he's going to take at least a year off to be with his daughter and the baby once it arrives." (Femalefirst.co.uk)

Ben
Stiller Pied and Will Slimed at Kids Choice Awards
Ben Stiller came prepared for slime by wearing a rubber suit. That
didn't stop Cameron Diaz from throwing
pies at him, however. Will Ferrell didn't fare any better, getting
slimed as a way to promote his upcoming movie, Kicking and Screaming.

Stiller Hosts the Kids Choice Awards Tonight on Nickelodeon
A reminder that Ben Stiller is hosting the Kids Choice Awards tonight

Meet the Fockers DVD Details
Meet the Fockers makes its debut on DVD on April 19, 2005.
Here are some details of the DVD:
Release Date for Upcoming Luke Wilson / Mike Judge Comedy
The movie is definitely not going to be called 3001 but as of yet
there still isn't a name yet. That said, we're definitely looking forward
to this comedy to be released on August 5, 2005. It is Judge's first movie
since Office Space and we have high hopes for Luke's performance
as well. (Dark

Full Bewitched Trailer Hits and Features Will Ferrell
Our opinion of this movie has gone up a thousand percent! Instead of featuring
Oscar winning "movie star" Nicole Kidman, instead the trailer mostly
features "hot" comedian Will Ferrell ("That Will, he's so hot
right now."). This definitely feels like a Will Ferrell movie and so
we're now quite excited about the movie. Check

Spade Draws Ire from Frat Pack Fans
We've seen and heard from several of you (including our friends on the wilson-brothers.com
message boards) and the overall reaction to David Spade's "spoof"
of Owen is summed up nicely by Frat Pack fan Odile: "Oh, and David Spade's
"appendage" as Owen Wilson? So not cool. Owen's a classy (and cool
guy) - unlike Spade."

Woody Allen re-wrote new movie Melinda and Melinda to make it funny after persuading comedian Will Ferrell to star in it. After several successive comedy films, the director was relishing the opportunity to tackle a more serious topic - but when Ferrell signed to star, he altered the screenplay so it told two stories, one funny and one dramatic. Wilson Joining Two New Comedies
Source: Variety
Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers) has closed deals to topline and produce a pair of comedy spec scripts sold: Stalker -- A Love Story at Paramount Pictures and Me, You and Dupree at Universal Pictures.
Stalker -- A Love Story, from writers Michael Carnes and Josh Gilbert, centers on a man who, after realizing too late that he's let the perfect woman get away, tries to win her back in all the wrong ways.
Me, You and Dupree, by Michael Lesieur, revolves around a troubled newlywed couple whose problems are magnified when the groom's out-of-work meddlesome best man moves in and begins competing with him.
Wilson has also optioned journalist John Falk's book "Hello to All That: A Memoir of War, Zoloft, and Peace," and plans to star in and produce the adaptation.

We received this note from Vince Vaughn fan Jean Louise: "Just wanted to let you know that Variety just announced that Jennifer Aniston is committed to “The Break Up” with Vince Vaughn. This explains the presence of Universal exec Scott Stuber on their ‘mystery date’. It was simply a business meeting." This sounds interesting and we've been big fans of Aniston with quality work in Office Space and Along Came Polly.

There's quite a bit of buzz for the Wilson Brothers' Wendell Baker Story. The Wilson-brothers.com Forums have photos of the SWSX premiere, reviews, and more. The film will be also be shown at the Vail Film Festival at the end of the month.
"In a pre-emptive purchase, New Line Cinema has scored with "Heckled," picking up the comedy script from the writing team of Jeremy Haft and Ed Gonzalez. The revenge tale centers on a heckler who causes an NBA superstar to get suspended only to find his own life in chaos when the roles are reversed and the heckler becomes the heckled. The project has been developed with an eye for Vince Vaughn to star as the heckler, sources said." (Hollywood Reporter)
"We recently heard that Vaughn’s people are trying to transition him back to drama work, so maybe the heckler New Line wants him to play can kill somebody if they’re serious about signing him up." (Defamer)

A
couple reminders:
The Wendell Baker Story starring Luke, Owen, and Will opens at the SXSW Festival in Austin, TX on Friday.
Ben Stiller hosts the Kids Choice Awards on April 2 (presumably to promote his voice work in the animated movie Madagascar). Still, this is an odd choice, given that Ben's most famous character is Gay Focker. Interestingly, Fockers isn't mentioned anywhere in Ben's bio on the site.

As reported by Variety:
Variety reports that New Line is in talks with Will Ferrell to star in Elf 2. The original grossed an impressive $220 million worldwide.
"We're only going to make this if it's with Will," confirmed New Line production president Toby Emmerich. Ferrell would earn $20 million plus for the sequel.
Still up in the air is who will direct the movie. Original's helmer Jon Favreau has the right to look at a script first, but it's unsure whether he'll end up behind the camera for a sequel.
If Favreau doesn't return, New Line executive vice president of production Kent Alterman is said to be a favorite of Ferrell's for the director's chair.
Scott Armstrong (Old School), who did uncredited work on Elf, is expected to be tapped as the screenwriter for Elf 2.

John Beckwith and Jeremy Klein, a pair of committed womanizers who sneak into weddings to take advantage of the romantic tinge in the air, find themselves at odds with one another when John meets and falls for Claire Clearly.
Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson star as two divorce mediators who crash weddings looking for Ms. Right Now. Rachel McAdams stars as the girl who Vaughn “falls” for and her bizarre politician dad is played by Christopher Walken. Will Ferrell also stars in an unknown role but I’m assuming it’s just a cameo.
Well, forget all the potential mushy romantic stuff I described above. The trailer focuses entirely on the stuff the guys want to see: booze, babes, and corny angles to get the girls into bed. I might have to bring a pad and pencil. I might need some pointers!

January 25, 2005
From Associated Press:
DURHAM, N.C. - In what police say was an homage to the movie "Old
School," partying Duke University students were found in a fraternity
house basement with an inflatable pool, a whole lot of baby oil and women
in bikinis.
Police came upon the scene early Sunday after responding
to a noise complaint.
"Inside were several of America's future, re-enacting
a scene from the movie 'Old School,' where females wrestle in a pool of lubricants,"
police Sgt. D. Gunter said. In their version, the Duke students apparently
opted for baby oil.
Officers said they cleared the house of the 200 revelers,
sending some of the women home in the subfreezing temperatures in nothing
more than the bikinis they wore.
Nicholas Hunter Roberts, who lives at the address,
was charged with violating the city's noise ordinance, a misdemeanor that
carries a $150 fine.
There has been ongoing tension between students and
residents of the neighborhoods that adjoin Duke's East Campus. Other weekend
parties in the area resulted in noise ordinance charges and a marijuana possession
charge.

It's a sad day in the Frat Pack neighborhood. Ben Stiller was nominated for Worst Actor by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation. He was nominated collectively for performances in Along Came Polly, Anchorman, Dodgeball, Envy, and Starsky & Hutch. Now, we're clearly biased but wonder how Meet the Fockers missed the grade here, since arguably it was actually Ben's "worst" performance of the year. We're here to tell you, however, that we're going to fight this nomination by joining the organization and voting for someone much more deserving: George W. Bush from Fahrenheit 9/11.
There's a new item in the Frat Pack store. We now have a t-shirt with what's sure to be the next Frat Pack catchphrase when Wedding Crashers opens. Referring to a tattoo on the lower back, Vince Vaughn says "Might as well be a bullseye."
